Guernsey school rebuild to include centre for autism
Centre for Autism to be included in Guernsey school. The Le Mare de Carteret school site redevelopment is going to include a center for young people with autism. The Guernsey school rebuild, which will cost £60m, is planned to house a centre for autism with 36 places for children with the condition.
The work is due to start next year, however at this time the Education Department has yet to finalise plans, nor has the required funding been agreed.
The La Mare de Carteret is the last of Guernsey’s three high schools to be redeveloped. Deputy Chris Green, an Education Board member, said this would be a chance to improve the facilities and bring the services for primary and secondary pupils into one location.
