Hampshire hero Alex Lewis will be turning on Stockbridge’s Christmas lights

Stockbridge High Street will be illuminated by thirty decorated Christmas tress on 9th December, when the lights are turned on at late-night shopping.

Alex Lewis, a quadruple amputee who lives in the town, will switch on the Christmas lights.  Alex came down with what seemed to be a common cold last November; he was later diagnosed with having a horrific virus that resulted in him having both arms and legs amputated.  He is currently learning how to walk again and has won the hearts of many in Stockbridge for his courage and good humour in such difficult circumstances.

Alex said:  “All in the community have worked hard to make this a very special Christmas and we have had some generous donations from individual residents and stakeholder groups,”

“It is an honour for me to turn on the Christmas tree lights in my local town.”

More than £5,000 was raised towards this years Christmas display and many of the local shops will be offering complimentary mulled or sparkling wine and canapés to shoppers.
