    Why Move to Paisley?

Paisley is the biggest town in the noteworthy province of Renfrewshire in the west focal Lowlands of Scotland. Located north of the beautiful Gleniffer Braes, the town borders the city of Glasgow to the east, and straddles the banks of the White Cart Water, a tributary of the River Clyde. It is also notable for its medieval abbey.

During the Industrial Revolution Paisley’s economy was booming. It was a wealthy town and much of its striking town centre was built using the finest sandstone. Those who lived here at this time were highly productive in the making of carpets, cotton thread and of course the world-famous “Paisley Shawls”. Paisley is still a popular cloth today and is shipped all over the globe.

The boom town days of old may have disappeared, however, Paisley has by no means been left behind. Its location benefits greatly from its proximity to the large City of Glasgow to which plenty of residents commute the short 7-mile distance.

The town could not be any easier to reach. Not only is Paisley home to the busy Glasgow International Airport but it is also only a stone’s throw away from Glasgow city centre. Excellent road connections via the M8 and direct rail links to Glasgow mean you can be in the city centre in 10 minutes.

Paisley has a vibrant town centre with a lively music and entertainment scene alongside a great selection of shops, museums, and attractions. The centre is also where you will find some great historical buildings such as regenerated Victorian textile mills, now converted into stylish luxury apartments.

On your doorstep is the wild and rugged Scottish countryside. Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park is an incredible place to relax and unwind or have an adventure-filled day out.

The park covers an area of 110 square miles incorporating Inverclyde, North Ayrshire, and Renfrewshire, stretching from Greenock in the north, down the coast to Largs and West Kilbride and inland to Dalry and Lochwinnoch.

According to the SchoolGuide.co.uk, the three highest rated secondary schools in Paisley are Park Mains High School, Paisley Grammar School and Johnstone High School.

The popular West College Scotland has a campus in the town which is just a short walk from the train station and only a few hundred yards from the M8 motorway. Having undergone extensive renovations in recent years, it now hosts some of the best and most up-to-date classrooms and workshops in Scotland.

Paisley is the main site for the modern University of the West of Scotland (UWS). UWS is a large, modern, multi-campus University with its origins dating back to 1897.

The campus is home to around 10,000 students and offers a range of courses and research opportunities in business; computing; social sciences; engineering and science; and health, nursing, and midwifery.
