Priory Engineering to close after 80 years

Priory Engineering, at Purewell will stop trading after 80 years in business. The company started in 1931 in Christchurch, making a range of items from medical instruments to components of the nuclear industry, it supplied a client base of UK, US and Chinese industries with its products.

Now owner Jeremy Isaac has decided to retire, the company will close with its assets being sold off.  The company currently employs six staff.

The ES Group have been appointed to hold an online auction of Priory’s plant, machinery and other assets.  Barry Bostock, senior value at the Solent office of ES said:  We are anticipating a strong level of interest in the lots up for auction, in particular from overseas buyers.

“The large capacity engineering industry is a vital facet of the global economy and high quality goods, such as those being auctioned from a long established manufacturer like Priory, have become extremely sought after. We are confident that the connections we have established on an international scale will allow us to generate widespread bidder interest at auction.”
