The Gold Coast Light Rail or “G:Link” is the quickest, easiest and most convenient way to travel. The service has 13 routes and the trams run roughly every 8 minutes during the day. Surfside Buslines also provide another excellent form of transport, with buses running 24 hours a day. Many expats will choose to own a car, the Gold Coast doesn’t suffer from the same congestion as Brisbane, times to avoid driving are 7 am to 8.30 am and 3.30 pm to 5 pm. Roads to avoid at these times are Bundall Road, Southport-Nerang Road and The Gold Coast Hwy at Surfers Paradise. Due to the long distances between major cities, flying is the most popular travel option. The main airlines that operate domestically between Australian cities are, Virgin Australia, Qantas, Tiger Airways Australia and Jetstar.
