    Why Move to St Neots

The largest market town in Cambridgeshire, St Neots is located next to the River Great Ouse.

The town is named after the Cornish monk Saint Neot, whose bones were moved to the once significant Priory from the hamlet of St Neot on Bodmin Moor in around 980 AD.
For over 1000 years since its beginnings, St Neots has provided an important bridgehead over the river.

Being located in a convenient spot at the convergence of the main roads from Huntingdon, Kimbolton and Bedford make it a sought-after place in which to live.

The affluent county of Cambridgeshire offers an easy, laidback countryside lifestyle. According to a recent resident survey, it consistently ranks among the “best places for quality of life” in rural Britain.

Not only the largest town in the county, St Neots is also the fastest growing. Commutable to many nearby towns including Milton Keynes, Bedford, Stevenage, Hitchin, Biggleswade, Peterborough, Huntingdon and more. Train links also connect the town directly to London, Birmingham, and Peterborough.

Seen as a hub for the surrounding area, the town has plenty to offer in the way of amenities. Its beautiful Georgian central square is an area where local communities gather for shopping and market days. The square is perfect for social events such as festivals, fetes, and its annual fun fair.

Whilst the local population have ample amenities for now, as the town continues to expand, St Neots Council has also been preparing for the future.

The Neighbourhood Plan has been implemented to tackle issues important to the community such as the provision of more shops and services, extra parking, new homes, and general rejuvenation projects.

St Neots is an ancient market town full of character with a great community at its heart and its feet firmly on the ground. An ideal location for all.

    Schools & Education

Local children have access to a range of schooling options. State schools are administered by Cambridgeshire County Council. St Neots provides state, special and private schools.

Notably there are two Ofsted rated “outstanding” primaries available, Samuel Pepys School and Little Paxton Primary.

Unfortunately, the towns two main secondaries have not performed quite as well. Ernulf Academy and Longsands Academy are both mainstream, state funded co-ed senior schools and both “require improvement” says Ofsted.

There are no further education providers in the town, however the wider county has several particularly good colleges which include Hills Road Sixth Form College, Long Road Sixth Form College, and Cambridge Regional College.

Just under an hour by train from St Neots older students can attend one of Cambridge’s two universities. The collegiate and world-renowned University of Cambridge and the local campus of Anglia Ruskin University combined serve around 30,000 students.
