About Greenock & Good Moves Greenock
Greenock is a historical industrial town which is situated in the west central lowlands of Scotland. It lies on the south bank of the Clyde at the ‘Tail of the Bank’, where the River Clyde expands into the Firth of Clyde. It is approximately 63 miles south west of Dunfermline and forms part of the county of Renfrewshire.
Historically, Greenock was well known for its production of sugar, wool and for shipbuilding. Sadly, today none of these industries are part of the towns economy. More recently, the largest employers in the area rely on electronics, call centre businesses, banking and shipping exports.

Small groups of shops can be found in most of the areas of the town, which provide for day-to-day needs. Most of the larger specialist shops are in the town centre. The Oak Mall shopping centre has a good range of shops, restaurants and cafes. It has approximately 87 stores, such as Marks and Spencer’s, New look and Primark. Close to the mall are several large supermarkets.
For those who enjoy historical buildings there are plenty to see in Greenock. The 245 foot Victoria Tower located in the west end of the town, is an impressive sight. You can find out more about the town and its docking history by visiting the Custom House Museum. Other attractions include McLean Museum and Art Gallery and the Old West Kirk. This church dates from 1591 and features stained glass windows by the Pre-Raphaelite artists Sir Edward Burne-Jones and Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
