    Why Move to Kings Lynn?

King’s Lynn, known as Bishop’s Lynn until 1537, is an English seaport and market town.
Located in Norfolk, known as Nelson’s County, there are limited fast routes via its road networks as there is no motorway anywhere close. However, the beauty of the area is that it is one of the few unspoiled counties left in England.

Full of maritime history, King’s Lynn was Great Britain’s first member of Die Hanse (The Hanse). A group of merchant towns and cities located across the UK and Europe formed an association known as the once very influential “Hanseatic League” trading alliance.
The town enjoys the best of both worlds; a modern vibrant commercial centre set in a town steeped in history. Shopping here offers a mix of old and new resulting in an unusual but quaint range of individual shops alongside a selection of modern high street stores.

Its architecturally beautiful streets tend to get busy in the warmer months. The ultra-modern Vancouver Quarter has become the focal point of the town. It is home to big high-street names including Argos, Iceland, New Look, Poundland, Sainsbury’s, Superdrug, TK Maxx, and Wilkinsons, as well as many smaller independent retailers.

Even though transport links by road can be limited speed-wise, the towns rail links offer quick connections, handy for both commuters and residents visiting larger towns and cities in the region. By train, Kings Lynn is 52 minutes to Cambridge and just under two hours direct into London’s King’s Cross station. It lies 36 miles from Peterborough and 43 miles from Norwich.

The rate of unemployment here is both lower than the average for Norfolk and lower than the national average. For those who are job hunting, the areas of food processing and manufacturing rank highly on the vacancies board, as well as opportunities for those who have experience in customer services, construction, automotive, and catering.

If you are thinking of relocating to the town, it has a cost of living which is significantly lower than in the flagship regional city of Cambridge. For leisure purposes, Kings Lynn has a wide range of sports and recreational facilities. Located close to the Norfolk Coast, a designated Area of Outstanding Beauty means you will have the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors without traveling too far from home.

    Kings Lynn Schools & Education

There are an assortment of primary schools servicing the town.

Considered to be one of the best is Whitefriars Church of England Primary School. It received a “good with outstanding attributes” from Ofsted’s most recent inspection.

King’s Lynn has four secondary schools, three of which are in the town: King Edward VII School, the King’s Lynn Academy, and Springwood High School.

The fourth, St Clements High School, is in the nearby village of Terrington St Clement.

The nearest independent school is Wisbech Grammar School in Cambridgeshire which falls within the catchment area of Kings Lynn.

The town’s only college is the College of West Anglia. Comprising of three campuses, located in King’s Lynn, Wisbech, and a land-based provision in Cambridge, it teaches over 10,000 students and operates with a staff of around 800.
