Hampshire fire fighters strike

Hampshire fire fighters strike over pension

Members of the Fire Brigade Union (FBU) walked out in a countrywide dispute over pensions at 6pm last Friday 31st October) and returned at 6pm on Tuesday 4th November.

Rushmoor Borough councillors Alex Crawford, Keith Dibble, Jennifer Evans and Clive Grattan joined the picket line at Rushmoor Fire station in Farnborough on Friday evening.

There was cause for concern as the public could have been in a vulnerable position during the strike action.  Last weekend is considered to be one of the busiest of the year due to Halloween and bonfire night events.

The Hampshire Fire and Rescue Services offered safety advice to local businesses ahead of the strike action to try to reduce any risk of fire in their premises.
