Why Move to Hertfordshire & House Removals Hertfordshire

Many young professionals are moving out of North London and heading to Hertfordshire. So what is motivating these newcomers to the county?

It could be the excellent schooling, or the good transport links. Or it might be the fact that buyers can get much more property here for their money than in the City. Not to mention that crime rates are low, and the countryside is beautiful.

Here’s the low down of some of the towns you may like to consider:

Hertford

The county town is a popular choice. It has two mainline stations with a frequent service from Hertford North getting London commuters into Moorgate in just over 40 minutes. Trains from Hertford East get into Liverpool Street in 52 minutes. The A414 Hertford by-pass links with the A1(M) to the west, and to the east you have a straight run down the A10 to the M25. The town has a leisure centre with a pool, Castle Hall provides a wide variety of entertainment and there are plenty of good bars and restaurants.

Bishop’s Stortford

Bishop’s Stortford is superbly situated in rural Hertfordshire on the border with Essex. It is both a lively market town and a favoured commuter area with excellent access to London. The town boasts the Rhodes Arts Complex and Bishop’s Stortford Museum. Both provide varied programmes of events including professional and local theatre, dance productions, live music, comedy, exhibitions, educational workshops and lectures.

Hatfield

Hatfield has a population of approximately 30,000 residents. During the 1930’s until the 1990’s the town was associated with aircraft design and manufacture, until British Aerospace closed the de Havilland factory in 1993.

The Galleria Outlet Shopping Centre opened in the 1980’s. The Centre has since become a firm favorite with locals as the place to head to for a spot of retail therapy. There are more than 80 designer outlets including brands such as French Connection, Jaeger, Austin Reed, Ghost, Marks & Spencer, Gant and TK Maxx. In addition, other leading brands include, The Body Shop and Waterstone’s.

Potter’s Bar

Potters Bar is situated approximately 18 Miles north of London’s city centre. The arrival of the Great Northern Railway in 1850 transformed the town to being part of the London commuter belt. Potters Bar’s claim to fame is being used in two scenes for the third season of the comedy Little Britain, staring David Walliams and Matt Lucas. The Wyllyotts Theatre in Darkes Lane is a small local theatre, which puts on productions to a West End standard, and is well worth a visit. It also shows the latest films and has a bar and café.

Welwyn Garden City

This must be the commuters dream town. Situated only 19 miles from Kings Cross, WGC was the second garden city and founded in the 1920’s and one of the first new towns. The town centre has an excellent range of shops, supermarkets, restaurants and a John Lewis store.

St Albans

For families this town has great appeal. It has excellent schools, both state and private, and a fast train service into St Pancras. The Alban Arena is the main entertainment venue for shows, exhibitions, festivals, live music and movies. A number of famous people have lived here including the late entertainer Benny Hill. Physicist Stephen Hawking went to St Albans School and Robert Runcie was bishop of St Albans before he became Archbishop of Canterbury. He is buried in the grounds of St Albans Cathedral.

House prices in Hertfordshire have risen by approximately 3.73% in the past twelve months. With many people priced away from the London property market, property market experts believe the strongest price growth is likely to be in the Home Counties, as buyers venture beyond the M25.

Hertfordshire is looking to be a very popular choice, with its market town of Hertford considered ideal for families. It has a number of excellent state senior academy schools and fast commuter services to London

Hertfordshire has a wide range of types of property ages and styles. The average price for property in Hertfordshire currently is around £370,000, with over 9,000 properties on the market across the county.
