    Why Move to Maidenhead

With a population of around 70,000, Maidenhead is a large market town in Berkshire, on the winding south-western banks of the River Thames.

During Edwardian period, the popular waterfront area made Maidenhead a trendy resort town.

Today, the town’s major asset is its connectivity, only 20 minutes from Paddington on a fast train and being one of the stops on the much-anticipated Crossrail Elizabeth line will only serve to solidify what is already a major commuter hub.

Once rather overlooked, Maidenhead has been given a new lease of life with exciting new developments which promise to spark a revival.

Recent proposals for a huge town centre development have now been given the green light, combined with the impending arrival of Crossrail means it’s no wonder house prices are on the up. Maidenhead is certainly an attractive option for both investors and those looking to move out of London.

Foodies are well catered for as the area is, or has been, home to no fewer than seven culinary Michelin star restaurants such as Roux at Skindles, The Hinds Head and Heston Blumenthal’s Fat Duck, all located just five minutes away in the village of Bray.

Maidenhead itself has its share of great restaurants too and one of the best is the Italian restaurant Palmieris. A long-established family run Italian cafe near Maidenhead town centre.

As well as a main pedestrianised street, Nicholson’s shopping centre has a fantastic range of stores including supermarkets such as Tesco and Iceland which are situated alongside several boutique independents store.

The twice weekly market held in the centre complements the already established shops, with Maidenhead Farmers’ Market running every second Sunday of the month.

Maidenhead is moving away from its dowdy old reputation. As the local Council sets out to deliver it promise of providing attractive streets and places, new shops, homes and business and leisure opportunities, Maidenhead is just going to increase in popularity as a great place to work, live and invest.

There is also a choice of private schools in the area, some of which include; Claires Court School, Al-Madani Independent Grammar School and The Jam Academy.

The town only has one college the Berkshire College of Agriculture. Most students entering college level education travel to other various establishments in the area, including the Windsor Forest Colleges Group in both Windsor (Berkshire) and Slough as well as The Henley College in Oxfordshire and Reading College (Berkshire).
