    Things to do in Livingston

    The town has many attractions for visitors and residents alike, making it the perfect place to visit for a day out in the central belt of Scotland. From high end designer shops to vast areas of beautiful open countryside, Livingston has it all.

    For shoppers, Livingston offers a wealth of retailers via the Almondvale Shopping Centre and the Livingston Designer Outlet Centre (perfect for any dedicated follower of fashion in hunt of a bargain).

    Nature lovers can spend time in the towns three parks or venture a little further and explore The Pentland Hills Regional Park. Designated in 1986, it covers an area of 35 square miles.

    The park, together with the rest of the hills, is used for a variety of recreational activities including hillwalking, mountain biking, horse riding, golf, and skiing at the artificial ski slope at the Midlothian Snowsports Centre.

    If it is places of historical interest you are looking for, just seven miles from the town is Linlithgow Palace, birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots.

    Built and added to over two centuries by the Stewart kings, resulting in a superb Renaissance residence. Much is now ruins; however, it is an interesting spot to visit.

    Kinneil House in another extremely interesting place to visit. Once the chief seat of the powerful and wealthy Hamilton family. Subject to extensions and refurbishments over 300 years, it reflected the Hamiltons’ high status both inside and out.
