    Why Move to Thirsk?

This little market town has very close links to the neighbouring village of Sowerby. The large cobbled medieval market square is surrounded by a mix of interesting buildings that provide it with a lot of character.

Mondays and Tuesdays are market days which has operated here since 1145. The market still draws people from all over the area to this day. Sitting close to both the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors, Thirsk was the home of author James Herriot as well as the birthplace of Thomas Lord, after whom Lord’s Cricket Ground is named.

Over the years, Thirsk has seen lots of change. The town now boasts a range of both local and national retail outlets in addition to a leisure centre, library, and cinema.
This North Yorkshire town has remained well-priced as far as property goes, a surprise considering it is within commuting distance of the “Golden Triangle” of York, Harrogate, and Leeds.
