One of the things Swanage is famous for is its steam railway train. You can hop on the train in and enjoy the ride through the scenic Dorset countryside to the end of the 6 mile track at Corfe Castle station. Here you can visit the Purbeck Mineral and Mining Museum and Norden Museum, (free of charge).
There are all sorts of events run throughout the year to cater for visitors. For a really special experience, there is an award winning evening dining train, beautifully restored, with a varied 5 course menu on offer, it really is a unique dining experience. The train will pause so that you can watch the sun setting over the iconic Corfe Castle, you cannot fail to be impressed.
For the smaller children visit Putlake Adventure Farm located in the village of Langton Matravers, just outside Swanage, a short 5 minute drive. It is a working Farm, with tractor rides, adventure playgrounds, Go-Karts, trampolines and of course a huge range of animals, large and small. You can feed the animals too.
There is a giant indoor soft play area with tunnels, ball pits and slides. You can take a picnic for lunch, or whilst the children are having fun you can sit back relax and keep an eye on them from the café.
