About Sweden & Removals Sweden
One of the best things about Sweden is its scenic beauty and natural landscape. Sweden also offers a prosperous lifestyle, along with its liberal values and the many economic opportunities. It has an excellent record for providing extensive social welfare and a healthy lifestyle.
The Swedish economy has remained stable during the global financial crisis and there is now a reasonably healthy job market. There are strict immigration laws but around one fifth of the Swedish population has come from another country. Sweden does have a high tax rate compared with the UK, and salaries are fairly modest, however, expats with a residence permit will have the benefits of a high quality of education, healthcare, excellent childcare and security.
Property Prices & Removals Sweden
Most expats choose to rent a property and finding accommodation can be challenging, especially in larger cities such as Stockholm, which has a considerable housing shortage. Once you have found where you think you want to settle, take a few months to ‘test drive’ the area to be sure that you can live there. Holidaying is not the same experience as living. Renting a property for at least 6 months will enable you to get a feel your chosen area.
As a guide, to rent a 3 bedroomed home in a city centre, you can expect to pay an average of 11,400 Kr per square metre (£1014). Outside the city this drops to Kr 8338 (£742). If you choose to buy a property, there are no restrictions to stop foreigners and you will find that property prices are lower than many other European destinations. To purchase a 3 bedroomed home close to the city the cost is approximately Kr 58,000. (£5160) per square metre.

If you have arrived recently to the country, leisure pursuits are an excellent way of making new friends and learning the Swedish language quickly.
The public transport system in Sweden is safe, clean and very efficient. It is always punctual making travelling around the country a very different experience from here in the UK. If you choose to own a car, the road networks are excellent and driving is considered safe and E-class highways are usually congestion free.
All cars must have their headlights on at all times of the day and night and the standard speed for roads outside of built up cities is 43 miles per hour unless signposted otherwise.
Schools & Removals Sweden
Public education is Sweden is free for all children between the ages of seven and sixteen and is considered to be superior to many other European counties. Expats, particularly those who only intend to stay in Sweden for the short-term, usually choose an international school, which will offer either a British curriculum or the International Baccalaureate (IB).

Useful Tips & Removals Sweden
1. Learn the language. Learning Swedish will enhance your experience. Going to the shops, at the doctor or dentist, when renting/buying a property, in a local restaurant/bar etc. are so much easier once you have mastered the language.
2. Many businesses shut down in July. It’s not uncommon to find restaurants and shops have shut down for an entire month, while employees take their holiday.
3. Lagom. There is a societal code of conduct in Sweden, which has no direct translation. The word lagom means ‘just enough’, ‘in moderation’, or ‘appropriate’. It is used with reference to societal behaviour and means a way of blending in appropriately and without extreme displays of emotion.
4. Take off your shoes. Shoes are always taken off when entering private residences in Sweden.
5. Winters are dark and cold. Sweden’s geographical location makes it very prone to long, cold, dark winters. At the depth of winter in some of the more northern parts of the country above the Arctic Circle, you may get as little as three hours sunlight a day.
