Property bargains available in Southampton

Thinking of moving to Southampton?

Now may be the perfect time to pick up a bargain property.  Southampton has plenty to offer, it’s a southern city, close to London, has good schools, good connections to London, Southampton airport and very reasonably priced property.

So how far can you stretch you money?

You can pick up a one bedroomed flat for £115,000; a delightful two-bedroomed Victorian terrace for as little as £120,000 and much larger family homes under £400,000.

Now could be the perfect time to purchase a property, sellers are slashing house prices in order to force quick sales in the quieter months leading to Christmas.  In real terms this could mean as much as £4500 shaved off asking prices or an average dip of 1.7%.  The average asking price is still up 8.5% annually, even taking into account the November reductions in asking price.

If you play your cards right you could have exchanged before Christmas.  Posh areas to consider are West End, Highfield and Bassett.  There are some fabulous waterfront developments and a new neighbourhood of over 1,500 homes at Woolston.  Average asking prices in Southampton level out at £246,593 across the board and with more than 2300 properties for sales, you’re sure to find something that’s right for you.
