Thinking of moving to Wakefield?
Thinking of moving to Wakefield and wondering what the city has going for it? It’s been nicknamed the new Margate, despite not having any sea or sand.
It’s enjoyed an arts-led regeneration with the Hepworth art gallery and the Yorkshire Sculpture Park just down the road. David Adjaye designed the Market Hall. It has a beautiful cathedral on Kirkgate with the oldest part of the building dating from 1150.
Moving to Wakefield
It has two train stations, Westgate and Kirkgate. Trains to Leeds take 20 minutes, Doncaster takes 17 minutes and you can get to London King’s Cross in just over two hours. The M1 is also close by.
There is plenty of choice of housing in the city. To the North of the centre there are lots of period properties; Bradford Road and College Grove Road are sought after. Also Sandal and Agbrigg would be worth considering.
Wakefield house prices
Family detached properties are available at around £275,000. There are semi-detached homes for £150,000 and smaller terraced housing for £115,000
