91% of Construction Workers Would Move Abroad
Recruitment website, CareerStructure.com has conducted a study revealing the appeal of moving abroad for workers in the Construction Industry.
According to H&V News,
“Some 1269 professionals, spanning architects, site managers and project managers were asked about their motivations and reservations for moving abroad. While for some, the lure of the sun and the experience may be the appeal, for four in 10, the UK is becoming a less attractive place to work – largely due to a perception that salaries are lower.”
The study identified that the Middle East is the most popular choice, as the area is currently undergoing huge development and construction work is rife. There is also a common belief that salaries are higher in countries such as UAE and Qatar while some believe that there are more opportunities available than in the UK. Australia, South America and South East Asia were also popular destinations according to the survey.
For many of the applicants, they would be looking to move permanently with 60% of those surveyed already having experience of working abroad.
The UK treasury has recently committed to investing a huge sum of money in infrastructure in the UK, offering strong competition for workers in the industry.
