About Wickford and Good Moves Wickford

The town of Wickford is located around 30 miles from London. A popular commuter town with just a 40-minute train journey to the city centre. It is a fairly small town, but its residents enjoy good amenities and transport links.

Wickford’s history stretches back as far as the Bronze Age. The hamlet grew slowly over the years, until the railway arrived in 1887. People started to migrate from London to the area. Following the Second World War in 1955, Basildon Council was set up and the town was chosen for the development of new homes, accommodating around 50,000 people. Hence Wickford was totally transformed in a relatively short time. There is still further development planned to improve the facilities for Wickford’s residents and land has now been earmarked for housing which is scheduled to start early 2017.
