Guernsey TV mast opposed

Some local residents have opposed plans to build a replacement TV mast some 80m away from the current mast.

The proposed site for the new mast is in the land set aside for the Frie Plaidy Reservoir.  Residents are questioning the “logic of the move” and the “visual impact” on the proposed location.

The existing mast is positioned off the Route de L’Eglise, in the Castel, it provides a TV signal for about 24,000 people, radio for BBC Radio Guernsey and Island FM, along with mobile phone services.

Politicians will make a ruling on the plans after a site visit has been conducted.
