    Why Move to Fife?

An historic and breathtakingly attractive region, Fife is situated between two rivers, the Firth of Tay and the Firth of Forth. It has inland boundaries to Perth and Kinross (the historic counties of Perthshire and Kinross-shire) and Clackmannanshire.

Being an area filled with beautiful nature, history, and dynamic culture, it is little wonder Fife frequently appears at the top of Scotland’s happiness index.

Fife’s three major towns are Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Glenrothes, however, it is also packed with no end of small towns and villages. Those looking to relocate to Fife will have difficulty in deciding where to live as there is so much choice.

Ideal for families, Fife also has the necessary conveniences of good local schools and great transport links by plane, train, or car. Perth, Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes are all within striking distance.

There is a strong arts and culture scene, and residents get to enjoy some of the best local produce money can buy with particular emphasis on fresh seafood.

It is also a destination for walkers, birdwatchers, and dolphin spotting. In addition, there are over 300 miles of cycle paths just waiting to be explored.

If glorious natural beauty, a thriving history, fantastic commuter links and good value for money property sounds appealing, then Fife might just be for you.

    Fife Schools & Education

It is a difficult decision to relocate to a new area even more so if you are moving to what is essentially another country, with school age children.

Ensuring you find out as much as possible about the Scottish Education system before you arrive is key and it will help you assist your children with their transition.

The region has a huge range of educational facilities from pre-school to university level.
There are approximately 160 primaries, 25 secondaries, most of which educate students from the ages of 12 through to 18 years old. Fife also has 9 special schools, a further 4 independent special schools and two private schools.

With some of the top universities in the world your children will have access to the highest level of education possible.

As with the rest of the UK, children attend the school closest to their home.

    Things to do in Fife

One thing you will definitely not be short on when you move to Fife is entertainment. There is a massive collection of natural wonders, wildlife, pristine beaches and as Fife is so well-connected, travelling to its attractions is effortless.

When you find yourself with spare time on your hands, here are some of the regions highlights:

Burntisland Beach – Overlooking the Firth of Forth this award-winning beach is the perfect place for a day by the seaside. As well as plenty of sand, children will love exploring the rock pools too. There is a range of great facilities close by including a crazy golf course, bouncy castles, picnic tables and an annual summer fairground.

Fife Woodland & Forest Walks – Fife is home to three large Forestry Commission sites: Devilla, Blairadam and Tentsmuir. All of which have waymarked trails from short walks of just a couple of miles to several which are around 8 miles. Well organised they incorporate a significant amount of woodland or forest area. Great for all ages.

Cambo Gardens – Situated amid the picturesque Cambo Estate dating from the late 18th and early 19th centuries, the 2.5 acre walled garden is a popular attraction. Not only does the estate have an amazing collection of fauna and flora, but it also has a children’s nature play area, woodlands, and a café. It is a lovely place to visit any time of the year.

Fife Coastal Path – 117 miles from end to end, the walk incorporates both rivers, the Firth of Forth in the south to the Firth of Tay in the north and offers an assortment of routes which display the wild beauty of Fifes coastline at its best.

As you would expect, the ancient Kingdom of Fife has a rich history. Littered with royal burghs, palaces, and castles and home to many celebrated attractions such as Falkland Palace, Dunfermline Abbey & Palace; St Andrews Cathedral; Aberdour Castle & Gardens and St Monan’s Windmill.
