Why Move to Paignton
The traditional seaside resort of Paignton sits in the county of Devon, known as Gods own country.
Voted as the safest place in the UK to live in 2018 by MoneySuperMarket, it is a child friendly and stunningly beautiful part of the UK in which to live.
Moving to this wonderful region has become an extremely popular choice for many.
Those who are able to work from home, or city workers who are tired of the pressure and grid of day-to-day life in the office, or those of a certain age looking to retire by the sea, all find Paignton a very worthy location and it is so easy to see why.
Paignton is part of Torbay on what is known as the English Riviera. The town has grown considerably since its beginnings as a Victorian resort and today provides a plethora of family-friendly attractions surrounding its harbour, long sandy beaches, and parks.
Life is lived at a much slower pace here, no corporate rat race and people in general just go about their lives in a calmer nature.
It is no secret that Devonians are known for their friendly open personalities, so settling in and integrating is made that much easier.
The added advantage is the areas property prices which sell for an average of £262,000. For those moving down from big cities, and particularly London, for the price of a tiny three-bed flat in the capital you can own a mansion in Paignton!
Of course, we cannot have it all and Paignton does not have the travel connections of larger towns and cities, but to many that is all part of its charm.
Paignton’s railway station does provide hourly services to Torquay, Newton Abbot, Exeter, and Exmouth, with some longer distance services to Taunton, Bristol, Cardiff and London (Paddington). Arriva Cross Country provide services to Birmingham and Manchester. So, it is not totally cut off from civilisation, it just takes a little longer to get there. With so much to offer prospective buyers, finding your forever home in Paignton is far from being just a dream.
Schools & Education
Sometimes moving to a location which is further away from larger towns and cities does come at a cost with regards to quality. But this is not so with Paignton.
Recognised as a centre for quality education, the town provides a high standard of schooling for all its children from nursery through to further education.
There are five state run primaries within a mile of the town centre: Of these four are “good” says Ofsted, Curledge Street Academy, Collaton St Mary Church of England Primary, Hayes School and Curledge Street Academy. Roselands Primary School has been awarded a rating of “outstanding”
The towns two secondaries Paignton Academy and South Devon College are both performing well and have been graded at “good” by Ofsted.
Not only does South Devon College provide education to secondary aged students, it was ranked the number one for its Further Education and Tertiary College provision in 2014.
Bridgewater & Taunton College is a popular choice for 16-18-year olds. It is a forward-looking college having spent £48 million in facilities over the last three years. Its students consistently achieve excellent exam results and pass rates over a huge range of subjects.
