    Why Move to Rhyl?

Rhyl, aptly known as Sunny Rhyl, is a seaside resort and community located within the Welsh county of Denbighshire. It lies in the historic boundaries of Flintshire, on the northeast coast of Wales at the mouth of the River Clwyd. To the west is the suburb of Kinmel Bay and the resort of Towyn beyond, to the east Prestatyn, and to the south Rhuddlan meaning you are never far from the sea.

Probably one of the better-known seaside towns in Northeast Wales, Rhyl is renowned for its 6-mile-long sandy beach stretching from Splash Point to the Foryd Harbour. Since Victorian times, generations have come here to soak up the sun and relax on the sand but, Rhyl also has a permanent community of around 25,000.

Rhyl railway station has train services to Holyhead, Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester Piccadilly, Manchester Airport, and London Euston. Having the A55 nearby the North Wales Expressway, getting around by car is also a sinch.

Sadly, the town has had a rather negative reputation in the past however, this is all about to change as much investment has been and is still being poured into the area. Old buildings which have been left to deteriorate over the years are now being demolished to make way for a swathe of exciting regeneration schemes, such as a £23m housing program.

These extensive plans also include a £15m water park, an Olympic pro kitesurfing village, new hotels and restaurants and the Marina Quay development on the former Rhyl funfair site.

The ambitious plans will greatly improve facilities for locals and supply much-needed employment across all sectors of business from construction to retail and customer services.

Though Rhys is primarily a seaside location, just a short drive away and you can be in the centre of the great Snowdonia National Park, 823 square miles of beautiful and diverse landscapes.

To further add to the attraction of Rhys, there is a host of things to do and see, enough to keep everyone happy and busy all year round.

    Rhyl Schools & Education

For parents moving here from outside Wales, it is important to point out that the Welsh education system is structured differently compared to the rest of the UK.

There are some similarities but, one of the main differences is that a large proportion of schools teach in Welsh. Welsh is taught as a part of the curriculum in all schools up to the age of 16.

The website below is a very helpful tool that explains very simply the major differences you will encounter:

    www.theschoolrun.com

Rhyl has plenty of state schools to choose from, eleven sit within two miles of the town centre, and fall within its catchment area.

Ysgol Tir Morfa is a community special school for children with additional educational needs.

Eight schools are primaries and many of these children filter into the town’s main high school, Rhys High School.

Further Education is available at Denbigh Community College and Llysfasi College, both sit between 20-30 minutes from the town and offer a huge selection of courses for post-16-year-olds.

    Things to do in Rhyl

Rhyl provides a wide range of activities to its residents.

There are some stunning beaches located along this part of the North Wales coastline and they are a major draw for the region.

Rhyl has five seaside locations to choose from.

Rhyl Beach, Kinmel Bay, Llanddulas Beach, Old Colwyn Beach, and Colwyn Bay each have their own particular qualities, but all are incredibly popular places to spend quality family time.

    Rhyl Property

According to the latest Zoopla figures, there are 49 homes for sale within a one-mile radius of the town and they come in all shapes and sizes.

Average costs range from £91,000 for a flat to £215,893 for a detached property.

Rhyl’s housing market has a high demand for investment properties but with them being snapped up so quickly, it is creating a short supply resulting in a fantastic rental market.

For property investors interested in the holiday accommodation market, it’s possible to buy a mobile home on one of Rhyl’s holiday parks for as little as £17,000.

As far as cost goes, if you decide to rent, you can budget for between £465pcm to £875pcm.

As with all locations by the sea, beachfront homes are hot property and are always of interest to buyers and investors.

For this kind of home, your best option is to head to Brynhedydd Bay, Rhyl which is situated off the beachfront, here you can expect to pay a reasonable sum of £200-300,000 for a home.
