Canadian Immigration officials announced last week that they are launching a new programme in which it will be made easier for foreign students and skilled workers to gain permanent residency in the country.
The programme, named the Canadian Experience Class, differs from other programmes in that it takes into account the individual’s experience working or studying in Canada. According to Emigrate.co.uk,
“It will apply to workers on temporary visas and student graduates who have professional, technical, managerial or trade work experience in Canada, and can eventually result in citizenship.”
To qualify for the consideration through the programme, graduates must be residing in Canada when they make the application and have completed at least 2 years of study in the country. Alternatively, individuals may qualify if they have at least one year of technical, skilled or professional work experience and good language skills.
For skilled workers, the review process is slightly different. Rather than the usual points system, applicants will be judged on a pass or fail basis. To qualify, individuals must have been working in the country for at least 2 years and, again, have good language skills. They must also be living in the country at the time of their application.
The aim of the Canadian Experience Class is to help make the immigration process easier for individuals with skills that will be beneficial to the overall development of the country. The programme is also aimed at increasing immigration in more remote areas of Canada.
