    Why Move to Crowborough?

There has been a human settlement in the Crowborough area since the Mesolithic age.
Over many hundreds of years, the town grew however, it expanded massively after the railway arrived in around 1870 and as late as 1905 the town was officially named Crowborough. Arguably this East Sussex town has been seen as being a little under the shadow of its neighbours Royal Tunbridge Wells and Haywards Heath.

Not these days though. With its bustling and welcoming community and boundless natural beauty, Crowborough is one of East Sussex’s quiet little gems. A prettier geographically desirable location is hard to find. Situated at the second highest point in East Sussex, Crowborough is located on the fringes of Ashdown Forest (A.A. Milnes inspiration for his renowned Winnie the Pooh books) and amid the High Weald Area of Outstanding National Beauty.

Crowborough also has access to an overwhelming amount of green space of its own too. Three local parks provide hundreds of acres of natural open areas – great for all sorts of outdoor recreational activities. Home to approximately 21,000, Crowborough is not one of the first towns you would consider as being part of the commuter belt for London. But Southern rail has a service which gets you right into London Bridge in just over an hour.
Not only does Crowborough sit just 7 miles from Royal Tunbridge Wells and 33 miles from London by road, you can also reach the south coast in under an hour by car, and Gatwick Airport is reachable within 40 minutes.

Small wonder as this wonderful little town manages to make light work of all the things we treasure in life; Great amenities, quick travel links, lots to do and the cherry on top local education standards also pass the test (so to speak)! Even the stars are aware of just how amazing the town is, Cate Blanchett, David Jason and Kerry Katona are three of Crowborough’s most well-known celebrities.

    Crowborough Schools & Education

There is not a massive choice of schools within the town, but what is here is of a very good standard. Of the seven primaries, every single one has been rated as “good” by Ofsted.

Beacon Academy Sixth Form Centre for 11-18 years is the main secondary for the town’s catchment area. Also rated as “good” with pupils achieving results well above average.

For children requiring special needs education, the Grove Park School is yet another highly rated Ofsted establishment providing expert teaching to children 4-19years including those with Profound, Severe and Moderate Learning Difficulties, Autistic Spectrum Disorders and Sensory Needs.

There is no FE college in the town. The closest is a Plumpton College a journey of just over half an hour from Crowborough. Plumpton is both a further and higher education specialist land-based college with outstanding indoor and outdoor facilities offering courses in a variety of related subjects.

The College’s degree courses are provided in association with the Royal Agricultural University.
