    Why Move to Redbridge?

Redbridge is a district of Ilford. Located within the larger London Borough of Redbridge a low-key leafy borough, which, in the past according to the Office of National Statistics, has the capitals most satisfied residents.

The name comes from a bridge over the River Roding which was demolished in 1921. The bridge was made of red brick, unlike other bridges in the area, which were made of white stone.

A well-connected suburban locality, just 20 minutes from London central, Redbridge is just close enough to enjoy London’s city centre sights while offering a selection of its own.
Home to 14 conservation areas, parks and woodland areas. The close-knit local community ensures that there is always something going on.

Meanwhile, retail opportunities in the borough are mostly focused around a number of shopping centres, most notably The Exchange and East Shopping Centre, both in Ilford.
With the average cost of a property coming in at £490,287, it is place in London where you can actually afford to buy a home.

Redbridge has a young and well-educated population, and at 50% it boasts the highest proportion of millennials in London.

The borough is also forecast to experience one of the highest rates of population growth over the next decade, which will be boosted further by the arrival of the Elizabeth line (Crossrail).

Redbridge manages to more than cover most people’s wish list requirements. Top quality schools, better than adequate facilities and then add the relatively affordable housing to the mix and it’s clear why the borough is a real hotspot for families and retired couples.

    Redbridge Schools & Education

Redbridge Council is the Local Education Authority for the region and education standards are historically extremely good.

The Borough as a whole had the accolade of sending more young people to university than any other borough in the country in both 2011 and 2012.

GCSE and A Level results are consistently higher than the Country’s average. A 2017 report by Trust for London and the New Policy Institute found that Redbridge has the highest proportion of 19-year-olds with Level 3 qualifications (equivalent to an A Level) of any London borough.

Best performing primaries who have been awarded the highest judgement by Ofsted – Redbridge Primary, Highlands Primary School and Nightingale Primary School.
Best Secondaries include – Valentines High School and Wanstead High School
Catering for further education aged students, the borough of Redbridge has two local colleges, New City College and Redbridge Institute of Adult Education.

New City College (NCC) has two sites in Ilford, one in the town centre and another next to King George Hospital. The largest college in east London providing the local community with a large choice of courses.

Thrill seekers can enjoy time at Redbridge Cycling Centre. A great facility for cyclists of all abilities, from families to competitive riders. The Centre has purpose-built road, BMX & off-road tracks.

For something a little less energetic, The Roding Valley Way is a designated walking and cycling route following the River Roding from Roding Valley station to Ilford in Greater London. It is a nice trail on mainly traffic free paths, so it is suitable for anyone looking for an easy cycle ride or pleasant stroll.
