    A market town situated in the Craven district of North Yorkshire. Known as being the ‘Gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’, Skipton certainly is picturesque. Residents can also enjoy extensive recreational facilities such as a state-of-the-art swimming pool and gym, a modern bowling alley and cinema. Connections by road or rail are very good. Leeds, Bradford, Harrogate, Colne and Kendal are all easy to get to via the M1, M62, M65 and M6.

    The closest universities are located in Bradford or Leeds easily reached by road or rail. Both have a huge range of courses across hundreds of subjects.

    Being nicely located on the River Aire and the Leeds and Liverpool Canal means that Skipton offers a range of water-based attractions to both locals and its many annual visitors.

    Also, very popular is the range of pleasant long or short walks running along the canal banks, some of which take in the historic Skipton Castle, one of the best preserved in the UK.

    Another well attended event is the annual Christmas Market, voted at being among the top 10 in the UK, a busy affair with all manner of food on offer and a range of unusual Christmas gifts.
