Why Move to Doncaster?
A traditional market town, Doncaster gets its name from its Roman history. Affectionately known as Donny, the historical market town is in the southern edge of Yorkshire. Renowned for its horse racing, rich railway heritage and its wealth of Georgian and Regency architecture on the Great North Road.

Things to do in Doncaster
The city of Doncaster itself has numerous leisure opportunities as well as being located within easy reach of other larger cities for more choice.
In its compact town centre, you will find the historic market, which can trace its origins right back to the Roman times. Undeniably one of the finest traditional markets in all of England, receiving praise from TV celebrity chefs and a loyal following of customers.
Travelling down the high street you can’t miss the award-winning French Gate shopping centre. Here you will find all the usual suspects in shopping and convenience under one roof. In York or Leeds, you will discover Victorian Shopping complexes and the huge Trinity Walk shopping development.
For gym lovers, head to the Dome Leisure Centre. It is one of the region’s most loved sports, leisure and entertainment destinations with over 50 activities taking place under one roof.
Residents also enjoy plenty of festivals. Doncaster is also home to the St Leger Day which happens once a year, bringing tens of thousands of visitors to the town.
Lakeside offers a more cosmopolitan retail experience. A recreational area and shopping complex located on a lake, around 2 miles outside Doncaster.
In recent years it has been expanded and modernised and is a great way to spend the day. After you have had enough of shopping, you can relax over a nice lunch in one of the many eateries in the complex.
With a wide variety of museums, galleries, theatres and a host of children’s attractions, Doncaster caters for people across a huge range of interests and ages.
