Moving with Us in 4 Easy Steps!

1 Survey

The surveyor will need to conduct a home survey to ascertain the volume of effects being shipped. This involves him/her walking through the property room by room noting what items are to be moved and recording it on their electronic tablet.

2 Quote

Once the consultation has been carried out, White & Company will always provide a written quotation within 48 hours. Our quotation will always outline exactly what is covered as per your instructions to the surveyor. The quote is our contract. Once you have signed and accepted it, the price is set, so you will know exactly what the bottom line will be.

3 Packing

When the client has accepted the quoted price and a move date has been secured, the vehicle and removal team will arrive at residence. The removal team will proceed to pack and wrap all items being moved in special breathable bubble wrap.

4 Moving & Storage

On the day of your move, our team will arrive in one of our specialised vehicles and complete the move. If for any reason the move cannot be completed. White & Company has storage facilities at 19 storage locations throughout the UK.

Working in Bristol

Historically a port town, Bristol’s recent surge in wealth and prosperity has been a direct result of its many growth industries, such as defence and aeronautics.

Many people also find employment in the health and financial service sectors and the digital economy, which has unlocked a number of opportunities in science and research.

Salaries are not typically as high as other major cities in the UK, but this is offset somewhat by the lower cost of living and the growth in disposable income.

Bristol also has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the UK. However, it is becoming increasingly hard to find employment across the UK and so it would be advisable to find work before moving.

Property

Bristol boasts a wide variety of property types, from traditional Georgian homes to modern apartment abodes found as part of the dockside regeneration close to the city centre.

While property prices vary one thing’s for sure, property prices are increasing and have seen a rise of around 4% in the past year. You can purchase a large Georgian home in the Clifton area for upwards of £850,000, or small terraced homes in Horfield for around £290,000.

According to consumer pricing database Numbeo, a one bedroom apartment in the city centre is likely to cost £880 pcm and £659 pcm outside the city.

Having said that if you are moving from an expensive city such as London you can expect rental costs in the city to be considerably cheaper.

Why Move To Bristol

Buenos Aires, Paris, Bristol. Yes you are reading that correct. Bristol has recently joined the likes of these famous capital cities in an inclusion on a National Geographic list of the ‘Coolest Cities in 2018’.

Famous for the world-renowned Clifton Suspension Bridge, Bristol is fast getting a name for itself as a convincing living alternative to London. Serving up a vibrant music and arts scene, accompanied by excellent eateries and a rich port history, Bristol surely has something for everyone.

It’s not just its thriving independent spirit that has seen a mass of new interest either.  The cost of living compared with other major cities in the UK is more favourable and its dockside regeneration has seen a wealth of new properties and business opportunities.

House and rent prices are again on the rise as interest in the West Country spikes. However, for those ready to splurge in search of a more laid-back lifestyle, Bristol offers the perfect blend of cosmopolitan city living, coupled with the allure of a countryside escape.

Schools & Education

Families are drawn to Bristol due to its range of top rated state sector schools, including Westbury Park and Clifton primary schools and Cotham and Redland Green secondary schools.

Bristol also has a large number of independent schools, of which Bristol Grammar and Clifton High are considered to be excellent choices that frequently record high levels of attainment.

More information on researching and finding schools in the Bristol area is available here: https://www.bristol.gov.uk

The city also has a fantastic reputation as a University hub, with the Russell Group University of Bristol and the newer University of the West of England, both hosting campuses in the city.
